Eating nuts help fight against breast cancer

Eat two handfuls of nuts a day reduce the risk of cancer, says a U.S. study published in the journal Nutrition and Cancer.

Researchers at Marshall University in the United States have reached this conclusion by observing mice that daily consumption of 56 g of walnuts slowed the growth of breast cancer tumors.

"Food is a drug", said the lead author of the study, Elaine Hardman. "What we eat can have a big impact on our health: this determines how the body works and how it reacts to the disease."

More good reasons not to go nuts

Nuts are rich in polyphenols, natural antioxidants. They contain almost two times more antioxidants than almonds, peanuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, cashews, macadamia, pecans and Brazil, according to researchers.

Nuts are also full of Omega 3, fiber, vitamin E and they help fight cholesterol. Now you have no excuses to deprive yourself. You can decorate your salads, muesli and snack in a snack during the day.
